Happy Halloween!!
Hope everybody gets lots of treats and no bad tricks. I was another tough day of checking glucose, bet ended up well worth it. All the numbers seem to be right were they should be and I might get to drop down my insulin at little. I guess the little lighter diet and a little more weight loss might I have helped. Biggest disruption for the last three days have been all the planes overhead. They are having the annual airshow at Alliance Airport and the planes can get really loud, especially when the Blue Angels are performing. They get so close to the house that you can read the "Blue Angels" on the bottom of the wings. It's only once a year, so I can deal with it. So tomorrow we head into the 2nd to last month of the year. That means I am that much closer to Santa Cat and more mousies!!! Happy trick or treating my friends!

Kitty Kitty Butt Munch is not a cute nickname!
My name is Pumkin, P-U-M-K-I-N! Enough will all the weird nicknames! I am not Pumkin Pie, Pie, Sleepy Pie, Creepy Pie, Pukey Pie or Stinky Pie. I do not want to be called Buttmunchicus, Butt Munch or any other form of this. I do not like being called Fat Kitty, because I have lost 6 pounds in the last 6 months. And just to keep it PG for my younger friends out there I will not even list some of the other so called terms of endearment that are utilized in this house. I do not even find Punky an acceptable nickname. The latest one is also not ok with me, Junky Cat. It's an illness you guys, the only addiction I have is to the water from the bathroom sink. I am an orange kitty born shortly before Halloween 1999, therefore Pumkin is a perfectly legit name. I like my name just fine thank you. I do appreciate being able to vent. Hope you all have a Happy Halloween and good trick or treat weather. Peace out from the Pumkin Patch.

Ate an extra bowl of stupid yesterday
What can I say, I'm a cat. Got the name of the insulin wrong on the blog yesterday. It's actually called Prozinc. Duh! Oh well, not the only person in this house that screws up from time to time, I just don't do it as often as the other two around here. Still need someone to go get me more insulin or if I had longer legs I could grab the credit card and car keys. At least I can look forward to Sunday and all the Trick or Treat stuff. I can lay on the window sill and watch all the little kids come by for candy. It's our favorite holiday in this house. Have a good day all, peace out from Pumkinland!

11 Year Old Cat Needs Good Paying Job With Benefits
I understand the whole health insurance crisis that everyone is talking about. I have no insurance and am no longer insurable due to my diabetes. The insulin bottle in the fridge is getting kinda low and somebody in this house is going to need to go to the vet for more. I don't know what insulin costs for people, but my Glipizide is $120.00 a bottle and I go through about a bottle every 3 or 4 weeks. My insulin needles run about $35.00 and the special food an other $25.00 per bag. Glad somebody is footing the bill for me, because I sure don't have it. Anybody Hiring? Love ya all.

Sleepy Pie Time or aren't I just the cutest!
Had to change to profile pic. It's another day in my world and I got everybody on the right page around here. Food in bowl, fresh water and the mousie army is all lined up ready to do my bidding. Now it's nap time and I got a nice, cozy spot lined up to keep an eye on everybody. By they way, always happy to hear from my friends out there and know what's up in their lives. Live long and prosper!!

Maybe you should have gold plated it. . . .
Sorry, been a busy week in Pumkinland. I had to keep my mousy troops in line, explain to some dog that snuck into my backyard whose territory he was infringing on, keeping an eye on the bird population and supervising my people. I just gotta stay on them about so much, like turning on the faucet for me and cleaning out the facilities. Speaking of such unspeakable matters, they should have had the facilities gold plated. We had to buy one of the new more expensive ones ($35.00) because of the neuropathy in my back legs. They got really messy because I couldn't lift them like I should and we can't risk infection because of the diabetes. So I have the Cadillac of kitty facilities. At least this is gonna be a quiet Sunday this weekend, no poking of the ears. Dr. Jim said we could give it a break this week since I was doing so good. Yahoo!!! Have a good week going forward all my friends. Halloween is just around the corner. Trick or Treat!!!!

It looks like the news is good (unless your a certain sports fans, sorry)
Did the whole poking Pumkin thing yesterday as the people call it (I do not find that any way cute, funny or amusing), but the news looks to be good. My glucose levels were either below 100 or only slightly above. Only concern was the 67 at lunchtime, it should get below 60. Dr. Jim is out of the office today, so I have to wait for him to give us a call back. But otherwise, things are looking pretty sweet in Pumkinland!!!Gotta love it! Great week to you all my most awesome friends!

Whew! That was a scare!
Learned something new yesterday, be very vigilant about checking all things medical. Had to get some new insulin needles, who was to know different companies make different needles and even the vet's office can mess up. Thankfully, it didn't turn out bad. It sure caused a ruckus here. My mom called the vet and when rushing out the door My insulin has specific needles by the same manufacturer that is suppose to be used with it, but the last time they gave me different ones and we didn't know this. We check everything but the manufacturer. Fortunately for me they provided the same dosage, unfortunately this wasn't the solution to my current high glucose levels. Oh well it could have been worse. I appreciate all the support from my friends out there. Love ya all!!! Peace out from Pumkin Land!

Welcome to the Pumkin Patch!
Sorry about no posts for yesterday, got a little busy napping with my mousie buddy. Let me explain about the mousie thing, because that is the one area I am rather prejudice. I only like bi-colored mousies, preferably white with either dark blue or purple but I will accept other colors if necessary. They just can't be solid color mousies, solid color mousies just aren't as good and I refuse to play with them. Other than that life is pretty quiet in the Pumkin patch. Just wanted to stop in and say hi to all my friends out there. Have an awesome day my peeps!

Hey friends! What's up?
It's so nice to be making new friends out here, gotta say hi to my new buddy Cubby! Having a better day today. Just had to up the insulin to 7 units now. Hoping and praying that does the trick. Did you know that I have my own Mii on the Wii with our Wii Fit. That's how we are keeping an eye on my weight. I mean the character of course isn't as good looking as I am, but it is a cat and even meows. I thought is was pretty cool. The nights are getting a little cooler down here in Texas, so my people put my favorite quilt on the bed. The quilt even has cats on it, I got it going on. Hoping everybody is having a great day and I will catch you all later. Peace out from Pumkin world!

My people really dropped the ball!
Don't the people in this house understand that I am the top priority around here. The world does revolve around ME! They let me run out of my special food yesterday, in addition to the other insults previously discussed. Then ran out to the dollar store and bought the most craptacular garbage that I refused to eat. So I started bright and early at 5 am waking them up to get me my proper food. Once I got the good stuff in the bowl, then I unfortunately screwed up and over ate. Which resulted in some carpet shampooing taking place, you know what I'm talking about. It's still all their fault though, they shouldn't run out of my food. I don't ask a lot for what I give in return. I guard the house, wake them up, provide them with companionship and give them something to talk about. What more can they ask for, they do say I am a special guy. Well have a great week all, I'm gonna go find a sunny spot or maybe watch the birds for a while.

Ouch! I feel like a pin cushion
I can see it is gonna be one of those days. First I get my insulin shot this morning. They I get pricked on the ear and I know what that means, two more pricks on the ear to go and one more insulin shot. Although, at least my glucose was 283, which was better than last weekend it should at the very least be under 250. Ideally a cat's glucose should be above 60 and below 100, anything over 250 is bad. I think I just might have to hide out in my box today. I was really impressed to welcome three dogs to my site. Hello to Rudy, Reggie and Lucy! We don't discriminate concerning races in my world, especially since any of us can suffer from diabetes. Glad to have everyone on board. Sorry I couldn't be more amusing today, but I can see it is gonna be a rough one for me. Lots of Love to all!

What's a guy gotta do to get a drink in this joint?
I'm sitting on the counter in the bathroom and you would think somebody would get the hint and turn the faucet on for me to get a drink, but nooooo. What do they think I'm up here for, other than maybe to stare at my magnificent reflection. When I look in the mirror I see a mountain lion. All I want is the faucet turned on or at the very least some water in a paper cup. How much is that to ask, huh? I know I have water in my bowl in the kitchen, which gets changed everyday, but it's just not the same. It's more fun to drink out of the bathroom sink. A nice little change of pace. When I first started drinking a lot of water and demanding it every time someone would walk into the bathroom, it was one of the first sign that some thing was wrong. When my glucose level is too high I get really bad thirsty. But right now would someone please, please turn on the water so I can play in the sink! I also want to give a shout out to my new friends on the site Stella, Mabel, Psycho and Aunt Sharon.

It's a Pumkin World! Oh Yeah!
Nice morning in bed with my people. Hopefully a quiet day in Pumkin land. It's been so nice since the neuropathy in my back legs went a way. Now I can jump up on stuff easier, before I couldn't even jump up on the table in the front room to watch the neighborhood. I still have to use my stairs to get on the bed, but that's ok I know the muscles in my back legs aren't what they used to be before I got sick. My person used to worry about people seeing me walk when I was having trouble and she would explain to them what was wrong. She didn't want people to think I was abused. I'm far, far from abused. Just looking forward to the weekend and hanging with my peps. Hope you all have a great weekend!!!

Sunspot Kitty
Just laying here in the sun and it feels so good!!! I seem to get cold these days so if I can lay in the sun or get on of my people to let me under the covers in bed it helps. Things are looking better and I've resigned myself to the food situation. We've been down that road earlier this year when my diabetes was diagnosed. We tried to control it with special food and in limited amounts, but quickly found out that that wasn't going to help. So I had to start taking a pill called glipizide and it worked for a while. Now I have to have an insulin shot twice a day, but I do get kisses for being good about it. I guess it's time to cuddle up with a mousie and take another nap in the sun. Hope everybody has a great day!

That Bad Four Letter Word . . . AGAIN
Even though I know I have most awesome hearing, I tried to tell myself I did not hear that four letter word when we went to see Dr. Jim. I now realize it is true, the word I dread almost as much as the act. I guess I will have to utter the vile word once again . . . DIET! They say since I put on an extra pound or so that it could be a reason for my recent rise in blood sugar. So here I am once again having to eat my bowl of special diabetic kitty food empty and then reduce myself to having degradingly beg for more. Oh how demeaning it is to go seek out one my people to try to communicate my urgency for more food and begging should only be reserved for dogs. Sorry to grip so much to today, it's not like it wouldn't hurt my people to at least suffer with me. They could loose a few pounds too. I just wanted to vent, so thank you for listening. And I would like to thank my latest follower for joining, my buddy, Kris. Look forward to seeing you the next time you visit.

Good Morning World
It's another day is my world and hopefully better than yesterday. Yesterday started out fine, I had both my people home to pay attention to me. Then they left and I took a nice long nap. When I heard the garage door I got up to great them thinking they had come home to see me, but instead I got scooped up and placed in that dumb box. I was whisked off to see Dr. Jim and given a shot. I was not impressed with this latest trick. Every time that box comes out it means I'm going for a ride. The cause of all this. . .it seems that they think I have an infection that is making my glucose levels off. Here's the deal with that, every couple of weeks my people stick me in the ear to get blood to check my glucose level (how high my blood sugar is). They do this three times in one day and I've gotten to know the routine. When I'm being held and my ear gets grabbed I just tense up because I know it's going to hurt. When we went to see Dr. Jim we found out that my buddy Allison is no longer working there, I was sad about that. Allison always made such a fuss over me and she was pretty cool. I plan on today being better, gonna take a nap in the sunshine. Peace out for now everyone!

Wow I did it, I'm blogging
Hi to any one out there. My name is Pumkin and I am an 11 year old cat with Diabetes. I had to hijack my owner's e-mail address to even have a blog, as well as lied about my age. Which is ok because in cat years I'm like 77. Last February I started to not feel real good. I was drinking a lot of water and my back legs didn't work as well as they one did. I wasn't a happy kitty. My owners took me to see Dr. Sheila and after a lot of test (with needles and stuff) they said I had diabetes. Bet some of you didn't know a cat could get that disease.
Well this is my story, hope you come back to follow it and watch as I learn to improve my blog (my owners don't even know how to blog). I'll keep you updated on my amazing spoiled life of a cat. I'm more catered to than the queen, no kidding.
