Pumkin's Diabetes Battle

I know I have been rather absentee, but I had some health issues that required surgery. I am doing much better know and will not gross you out with the detail, but I will be going in to the doctor quarterly now to make sure this issue doesn't occur again. This is the second time this year I have had this same surgery and it is not fun. We don't know if the cause of the problem is my food or wieght, but we are now in a proactive mode. Inspite of all this my blood sugar levels have been quite well. I am looking forward to having a visitor for the holidays (person) and hanging with my peeps. Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! For my four footed buds out there I hope Santa brings you lots of good treats! Peace out!

And Yes, I do actually know how to hiss . . .
For any of you that have ever doubted my catness this will prove I am as much cat as I can be. Yes, I have always know how to hiss, I just chose to not for the last 13 years. Finally I was given a reason to so strongly express my displeasure, one of my people accidentally stepped on my back leg. Fortunately no real damage was done, but when I say it hurt, IT REALLY HURT! So I hissed for the first time in my life and hopefully the last since this was a rather unfortunate incident and we both felt bad about it. So is you had any doubt, you can consider it erased. One the up side of things I got to reduce my morning insulin by half a unit since my numbers were a little on the lower end last weekend, not that I felt bad or anything. Otherwise life is pretty quiet, looking forward to the start of Pro-football season (it's not that I'm a fan, but the laptime I get out of it rocks). The peeps here at the house are all geared up talking about fantasy leagues, drafts and trash talk stuff. Well hope you all are looking forward to the cooler temps of fall, I know I am. Purrrrrr and love to you all! Peace out from the Pumkin Patch!

Sorry It's Been a While
I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I'm a busy guy. It takes a lot of my time just managing these people that live in my household along with napping, chasing Angry Bird, keeping the mousies in line and general grooming. I will say that last month was not without challenges and highlights. First of all, we found out that we had to buy a new glucose meter because the company that manufactures it was discontinuing not just my old meter, but everything that comes with it (the calibration solution, test strips and lancets). Then we had a shortage of my insulin, which is still and ongoing concern. I have been fortunate enough to maintain an adaquate supply with the dedicated assistance of Mandy at the Doc's office. I did have to help out a brother by another mother though. Mandy called late on a Thursday and asked if I could loan another dude some insulin since they couldn't get any until Tuesday and he was going to run out on Friday. I'm alway glad to help a brother. Heck, that could have been me in that position asking for a little helping hand. The only other alternative with the insulin is to change to human insulin (I'm on feline insulin right now) and it is much more expensive and my numbers have been so good that it would be a problem to change and readjust. Thanks for listening to the ups and downs in my life, I hope everyone elses life is going well. Peace out from Pumkinland!

I was deserted!!!!
My people ran off and left me for a whole week, what the heck!!!!!!! I can't believe they had the audacity to desert me like that!!!! The only saving grace to the whole deal was that my friend, Mandy from the doctor's office came over and visited with me. She was really sweet. She made sure I had my food (even though I couldn't convince her to let me off my diet, darn it), my shot, fresh water and played with me. I saw her a couple of times a day. I was still mad when my people finally came back, but have since made peace with them. There was some discussion about concern that I wouldn't eat because they left, but me miss out on my food, come on who are we talking about here really. After all the drama things are back to normal around here or at least I hope so. Gotta do the blood sugar testing tomorrow. Hoping those numbers are good, but I will let you know. Anyway, a BIG THANKS to Mandy for all of help!! And to the rest of you all, peace out from the land of Pumkin.

It's purrrfect!
Life is good, blood sugar is good and I'm good. I have a new buddy called Angry Bird, been enjoying hanging with him. I have to thank a lady named Teresa for giving him to me. He's retired now, but I think he used to blow up pigs for a living because they were stealing eggs. The ham stealing the eggs, who would have thought?? I still haven't convinced these people that the diet thing just isn't doing it, but you know how stubborn people can be. Been watching the birds alot and enjoying that the hummingbirds are back. Those little guys are quick, they make me tired just watching them. I just thought I'd check in with everyone and give a shout out to Psycho and the ladies too. I do get your messages and appreciate your support. Well, it nap time again. So peace out from the Pumkin Patch!

No more conehead!!!
As most of you know, I have been rather out of commission for a while due to an unexpected surgery. The cause for the surgery on a rather delicate area was from having a high fiber diet (aka my diabetic diet), it rarely happens but gee I got to be one of the lucky ones. After some pain meds and having to suffer with the good old elizibethan collar for almost two weeks (quit laughing Psycho) I am finally feeling better. The collar is gone and I am healing up quite nicely according to Dr. Jim. I have to give a shout out to the Billing Godess for taking care of business after hours to get me in ASAP and all the great staff at Avondale Haslet Vet Clinic! Thanks all of you! I also want to thank everyone for thier prayers and positive thoughts, it is greatly appreciated! Well, I guess it is naptime. Thanks again everyone! Peace out from Pumkin's Palace

I'm good for another year, WooHoo!
Got done seeing Dr. Jim this week and all the great staff at the Vet Clinic. Got all my blood work and tests done and everthing came back good, some of my numbers were at the high end of acceptable and everthing else was on the money. Dropped 2 more ounces to boot, down to 16 lbs 10 oz!!! Blood sugar was 101, even for me being a little stressed out. I don't care much for being stuck in a box and riding in the car, what can I say. Got my shots done, so I'm legal again. I didn't know that rabies shots can throw off blood sugar, glad they took the blood before I got the shots. Hope everyone is doing good and your year if off to a good start, peace out from Pumkinland. Life is good.
